My television Habits

Over the last couple of days I have noticed my television habits. I watch a lot of ESPN and all of the games over the weekend. Also I watch a lot of BET my favorite shows are the game and the Jamie Foxx show not that it is back on the air. I sometimes watch Everybody Hates Chris when nothing else comes on or The Steve Harvey Show. I think what you watch on TV describes what kind of person you are and how your personality is. Me being an athlete would automatically make people think I’m going to watch all the games and always have my TV on ESPN. Also that I’m a lively person because I watch a lot of comedy’s on TV which are my favorite shows and movies. Sometimes I watch UFC fighting to entertain my violent side which is very interesting I can’t wait to see Kimbo and Broke Lesner fight. Without television I would go crazy after doing my homework in the room. To me television was the best thing invented it’s something to do while you relax from a long day of work and class. Television shows tell stories that can relate to the audience like right now I have seen every episode of the game I feel that that show relates to me because I am an athlete and I have been in and seen many of the situations that the characters go through on the show dealing with drugs, love, and money. Everybody Hates Chris reminds me of my childhood learning a lot about life through situations that I put myself in just like Chris does in the show. The Jamie Foxx and Steve Harvey show are just shows I enjoy I don’t really relate to those but I just enjoy laughing at their jokes. My television habits are not bad though now that school has started I only have time to watch it when I’m done with class or on the weekends. I do wish more movies came on then the hair movies on BET but I will watch as many games as I can on Saturday’s and Sunday’s.

Mass Communications In Society

In today’s society mass communications is a very big part of everyday life. There is always something new going on in the world rather it be good or bad. With out mass communication life would be a mystery in the world. Mass Communications informs the worlds of troubles such as new diseases and how to keep from getting them, or server weather problems such as hurricanes. They also inform you on music that will be coming out or new movies that will be playing theaters. Without mass communications I know I would go crazy not knowing who won the football and basketball games during the year. The media keeps us informed as well as entertained with television and radio broadcast for people of all ages, gender, and ethnic background. Some things in the media I feel should not be put in there such as killings and robberies. These things show the youth a life style they should not have. An example of this is like when Michael Vick went to jail for dog fighting it showed kids of new things that they might try to do because their favorite athlete is doing it. Also something’s further escalate problems even worse like in our local news drug users were stealing air conditioning parts from church air conditionings. When the media put it on the news more cases began to pop up making it worse because they gave them the idea they could do it too. The media has its goods a bad but today’s society needs it to know what is going on. How would we know who to vote for without the media? When the presidential election was going on no one would have heard any of the debates or speeches from the candidates unless they were actually there. Also how would we have known who won, we would have had to wait until papers made it to our select areas just to find out who our president was. So in conclusion the mass media is important in today’s society. We use it for knowledge and information, and also entertainment.

The Definition Of Mass Communications

Mass communication is the term used to describe the academic study of the various means by which individuals and entities relay information through mass media to large segments of the population at the same time. It is usually understood to relate to newspaper and magazine publishing, radio, television and film, as these are used both for disseminating news and for advertising. Mass media denotes a section of the media specifically designed to reach a very large audience such as the population of a nation state. The term was coined in the 1920s with the advent of nationwide radio networks, mass-circulation newspapers and magazines. However, some forms of mass media such as books and manuscripts had already been in use centuries. The public media has a similar meaning: it is the sum of the public mass distributors of news and entertainment across media such as newspapers, television, radio, broadcasting, which may require union membership in some large markets such as Newspaper Guild, AFTRA, & publishers. Mass media includes Internet media like blogs, message boards, pod casts, and video sharing because individuals now have a means to exposure that is compatible to that of a previously restricted select group of mass media producers. The communications audience has been viewed by some commentators as forming a mass society with special characteristics, notably atomization or lack of social connections, which render it especially susceptible to the influence of modern mass-media techniques such as advertising and propaganda. The term "MSM" or "mainstream media" has been widely used in the blogosphere in discussion of the mass media and media bias. 'Mass communication' can be seen as institutionalized production and generalized diffusion of symbolic goods via the fixation and transmission of information or symbolic content. It is known that systems of information have shifted from analog to digital. This has indeed advanced the communication between individuals. With the existence of Infrared, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, cell phones are no longer solely a tool for audio transmission. We can transfer photos, music documents or even games and email at any time and anywhere. The development of media technology has indeed advanced the transmission rate and stability of information exchange.

Mr. Make 'Em' Sweat

My name is Rodrick K Gladney but I go Make em Sweat, DJ Make Em Sweat, and Mr. Make Em Sweat. I was born April 21, 1989 in Jackson, Ms I’m 20 years old and I attended Jim Hill High School were I played football and also sung in the schools choir. I graduated from high school in 2007 with honors which made my mom really proud. I received a scholarship to sing in Jackson States choir and also play football the coaches loved that I was 6’4 and that I was strong as an ox. I never knew how hard college would be so because of time management I quit the choir my freshman year to concentrate on football and school. My major is mass communications broadcast production which I just changed it to. Now I am a junior with big dream to be a famous DJ or a producer of anything that will pay the bills. I have been a DJ for three years now I’m not at a major club but I do DJ around the city for different people. I played two years of football for the school were I won a SWAC championship my first year at the school with the football team. Right now I’m sitting out the fall from football and will return in the spring. Some of my hobbies include football, listening to music, playing video games, and partying. I have two little brothers who get on my nerves but I can’t get enough of them. I also have the most protective parents they still see a baby instead of this big guy that walks around their house all day. My dad is a retired police officer who worked for over 29 years for the Jackson police department and my mom is a nurse who is in school to be a teacher. I believe in a big family because I have one and we are all so close to each other and eventually I hope to have one but not until I’m much older and grayer. I have a great sense of humor and I love to laugh and show off my million dollar smile. That is just a little bit about me Mr. Make Em Sweat.
